My thoughts on breeders, puppies and the like...
Not every person will be happy with every pup they get whether it is
from a breeder in Germany or from a breeder here in the USA. If you
can't put your hands on the pup/dog you are buying and you buy it sight
unseen or via pictures over email's, there is a very good chance that you
may not be satisfied with the pup you are getting. Make sure you are
very explicit in asking for exactly what you want and tell them exactly
what you expect . Two people can have night and day differences with
the same breeder. I have two friends that purchased pups from the same
breeder. One was horribly unhappy as her pup arrived untested and had
a liver shunt and the other was totally happy with her puppy. Thank
God they were from different litters.
If you are unhappy with a pup, be it for health reasons or something
cosmetic, your breeder should work with you and follow the contract.
Make sure you get one! If you do not have a written contract... You may
not be protected! Do not buy ANY puppy without a contract. Buying a
Biewer is not an inexpensive undertaking so cover yourself!
Of course there is alway that chance that the BUYER might not meet
the Breeders expectations either. Thus the reason a good breeder has a
clause in their contract to protect their puppies from Buyers that they
feel are not right for their precious pups. It goes both ways. There are
as many bad buyers as there are breeders... If not more!
I have heard many horror stories both from breeders and buyers. Rest
assured there are ALWAYS two sides to every story.
Because the demand for Biewers is very high right now, many people buy
Biewers at the very minute they are born or even before they are
conceived! I have done it myself once. They have no idea how that pup
will turn out. If you are buying for show and breeding purposes, there is
no guarantee that a particular pup will turn out as a good representation
of the breed when purchased so young. We have had 3 pups from two
different breeders that were shipped from Germany that did not meet our
expectations for our foundation stock. Both breeders sent us
replacements. One replacement I was still not happy with so we placed
him as a pet. That said a lot as to how they treated me as a customer.
Those precious babies are making some very wonderful people happy
having them in their homes as loving pets.
As a business owner owning 4 service orientated business's believe me
when I say that I know that you can't please everyone. It's what you do
to TRY that sets you apart from the rest. I'm sorry I can't say that for
everyone!
Some people say that the Germans are sending poor quality dogs over
here... They say they are sending the Americans the Biewers the
German's don't want. Some American breeders say bad things about
the German breeders they purchased their own dogs from... All the
while they are breeding those "supposed" poor quality dogs. Some say...
Why buy a Biewer from Germany when we have so many breeders here
in the USA now? Interestingly enough... I think I see a pattern
developing! Hmmmm...
As far as breeders go, there are plenty of people who are greatly satisfied
with their breeders and their pups, then of course you have some that are
not. That is to be expected.
My advice... Get to know the breeder you are dealing with and have
them provide references from more than one person. After getting your
ducks in a row, make up your mind after interviewing your potential
breeder.
There are plenty of breeders who love their dogs, treat them with respect
and kindness. There are those that treat there fellow Fanciers with that
same respect. There are breeders who aspire to protect the breed they
love who try to educate the breeders who fall short. Thank God for
those breeders. There is something to learn everyday. I am a better
breeder for their guidance and knowledge and most of them are not even
my breeders! I thank my mentors from the bottom of my heart. I only
hope that I can be as good a mentor to those who look to me for guidance
as mine have been to me! Breeding is not to be taken lightly.
Dogs are living breathing beings. Not every pup will be show quality.
Not every pup will be beautiful and not every pup will be healthy.
Eventually every breeder out there will have pups that do not turn out to
their high expectations. There is no absolute perfection. If you pick the
best and most honest, compassionate breeder you can find they will
guide you in making the right decision on the best puppy for you and your
family.
After having dealt with my breeders and observing the ethics of others
out there... I feel that I have been truly blessed! I am ever so grateful to
all of my breeders and my mentors both Yorkie and Biewer alike. I have
been blessed with beautiful, healthy animals and for that I am ever so
grateful!

I have talked to two people recently that were scammed on Puppy Find.
One lady sent $1000 via Western Union for a Yorkie puppy and her
money ended up in a Russian car dealership. She had no recourse to get
her money back since she sent her funds W.U.
Another story was a newly single mom with daughters who sent money
off, made all the arrangements and went on their merry way to the airport
to pick up their pup. No puppy arrived. They tracked their money to
Nigeria. So PLEASE be careful. What I said above is so important.
Get to know your breeder by SPEAKING to them on the phone or if
possible visiting their home. Do not loose your hard earned money to a
scam artist. It happens more that you know.
I also have a friend who's identity was stolen. The scammers used her
website and pictures to sell her very own dog but put a different phone
number on the ad! She was alerted by people who were calling her about
a pup she had for sale that was not even for sale. It ended up they were
selling one of her show dogs, calling it a puppy and selling it for $850.
She even called them TALKED to them and they were arranging to sell
her her own dog! These people are crafty so you need to be VERY
careful.
